2009 Motorcycle Rally a Success!!
On October 25th, the 2009 Toys For Tots season officially kicked off in Albuquerque with the roar of motorcycle engines!
The Toys For Tots Motorcycle Rally was the opening event for this year's Toys For Tots season. And if Sunday's turnout is any indicator of things to come, this year should be very successful indeed! Over 500 riders turned out riding everything from Harley's to Kawasaki's in a showing of community support for our program. Over $3600 in donations were raised in addition to the 500 plus toys that were collected as entrance fees to the ride.
Riders began their ride at the Armed Forces Reserve Center and made their way down I-40 to take a scenic ride up Tramway. The idyllic day concluded with festivities at Sandia Resort and Casino.
Special thanks to all of the riders who participated in the ride, as well as to Albuquerque Police Department for helping to marshall the motorcade through the city.
This year marked another first for the Toys For Tots motorcycle ride, and that was the introduction of Toys For Tots T-shirts for sale. The proceeds from these t-shirts will be spent purchasing toys at local stores to be given to local children.
T-Shirts are still available for purchase at the Armed Forces Reserve Center located at 400 Wyoming Boulevard NE in Albuquerque. The cost is $20.
Photos from the Motorcycle ride will be up shortly under the Media tab. Please check back soon!
